Ringing of the Church Bell: Inauguration Eve

Ringing the Church Bell on Inauguration Eve, January 19

As part of the Inauguration of the next President of the United States, event organizers are “inviting communities around the United States to light buildings and ring church bells at 5:30 p.m. ET on the eve of the inauguration.” The bells will commemorate those who have died of the COVID-19 virus and support national unity and remembrance.  This event will coincide with a lighting ceremony of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool as part of the remembrance.

We look forward to the voice of our First Presbyterian Cooperstown church bell joining the national chorus on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Those who would like to join in the ringing may join outside the church front doors at 5:20 p.m. to organize ringer order.  Please dress for the weather and wear masks and gloves. Social distancing will be observed.  Contact Katie Boardman to sign up or for more information.  BoardKatie@gmail.com or 607-435-4568
